Girls Scouts of North Texas Intellectual Property (IP) Day – Event Recap

On Saturday, July 30 Dallas SWE was invited to have an information booth during the Girls Scouts of North Texas Intellectual Property (IP) Day held at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office’s Dallas Regional location in downtown Dallas.  Over 30 Girl Scouts from Cadette troops in the Dallas, TX area attended.  The scouts participated in a series of hands-on activities and presentations in order to explore the many ways in which inventors solve problems and use IP to protect their ideas and creations. After the activities and presentations, the scouts visited information booths from local law firms, corporations and organizations to learn how their organizations use IP to support innovation.  The scouts were given a “Passport to IP” with each local organizations logo. Volunteers from the organizations stamped each scout’s passport once she visited their booth.  The scouts were each given an IP patch for participating.  Dallas SWE volunteers provided the scouts with information regarding Engineering, the SWENext program and Design Your World conference.  Volunteers included Samica Norman, Elizabeth Haney and Kim Concillado. photos provided by Kim Concillado.
