May PD Event Recap

Dallas SWE and SHPE hosted a joint professional development event on May 3rd at 4 Corners Brewery that combined pop culture fave Legally Blonde with thoughtful tips and tricks for finding yourself at the workplace.

Sammy Zellner, Process Engineer at Texas Instruments, led a colorful and engaging session that drew lessons from the iconic film Legally Blonde. Using Elle Woods’ journey as a framework, Sammy introduced participants to six key “BLONDE” traits that empower professionals to break stereotypes, find confidence, and thrive in environments where they may feel like outsiders.

Attendees learned practical strategies to navigate workplace biases, seek out allies, and embrace the qualities that make them unique. Sammy’s personal experiences and career journey added authenticity and motivation to the discussion, reminding everyone that success doesn’t come from conforming, but from staying true to yourself.

This collaborative event was a great opportunity for members of both SWE and SHPE to connect, reflect, and walk away with actionable tools to grow in their careers. Many thanks to Sammy Zellner for leading such a powerful session, and to all who joined us for an evening of learning and community!
