On March 15, Dallas SWE hosted Lauren Hasson, the Founder of DevelopHer, a career development platform for tech women by tech women, and a practicing software engineer at a prominent Bay Area fintech company where she’s building their iOS SDK and working in information security. Her topic on Become a Negotiat[Her]: Learn the Secrets to Make More $ in Your Tech Career was inspirational and informative. Lauren walked through her professional development career and provided key negotiating tools she used to triple her base salary in less than two years. Her tips for negotiating included a) grounding yourself in data (Salary.com, Glassdoor, etc.), and b) understanding and using business needs as leverage.
