Welcome to FY24!

To our talented Dallas SWE Members,

I am very exciting about another year to serve you as President for FY24! Thank you for your continued trust in me to guide Dallas SWE again for this year. I have been involved with SWE since 2008, and with Dallas SWE since 2017. Throughout the past few years, it has been wonderful to see Dallas SWE grow through its array of programming and innovations over the years!

The outgoing officers of FY23 and incoming officers for FY24 just met this past weekend, on July 22nd at my home for our annual transition meeting. We are all very excited about the great things in our pipeline for this year. Our Treasurer – Katie Mills, VP of Outreach – Cyonna Holmes, VP of Membership – Meena Nagappan, and our Secretary – Sammy Zellner, are all going to continue doing amazing work in their roles. I am tremendously grateful for their continued partnership for FY24. We have elected one new officer, our VP of Professional Development, Nicole Anklam, to our team for FY24. Nicole brings a wealth of experience from involvement with SWE Detroit and we welcome her leadership and guidance to Dallas SWE.

One of our goals for our Dallas SWE Professionals is to oversee an impactful year of professional development and member networking, so that you can get the value that helps you advance in your path even faster. Nicole and Meena are already crafting exciting programming on these topics. We will also build off our impactful outreach programs so we can influence more young women to be interested in engineering. Cyonna will continue to keep up the momentum on doing engaging outreach events this year and expanding partnerships with companies and community organizations.

We also intend to grow our sponsorships. Katie has done a fantastic job in securing new partnerships for FY23, and we look forward to growing the list of companies that sponsor Dallas SWE in FY24. If you work for, or know of, a company that might want to sponsor Dallas SWE, please let us know so we can begin having those important conversations.

On that note, if you participated and enjoyed any of our programming from last year, from Outreach, to Professional Development, to the Book Club and Member Socials, to Social Media interaction, to Scholarships, and more, please consider volunteering for a committee. Fill out our Committee Interest survey if you’re interested, and we will be in touch with you soon to get you added to our monthly committee calls.

Also, please remember to renew your SWE membership if you have not already done so. Renewing your membership allows you continued access to the dozens of events we put on a year, networking opportunities, and career support. You can renew your membership by logging into your profile on the SWE Website. Please let me know if you have any questions about the renewal process or any feedback about renewing your membership.

We hope to see you at our upcoming Kick Off Party. Please stay tuned to the newsletter for details from Meena. We hope to make it fun time full of reconnecting with old and new SWE friends.

Be sure stay connected with us through our website, social media channels, and newsletters to stay updated on the latest events and opportunities.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time on how Dallas SWE can better serve you. Your ideas, feedback, and contributions are invaluable in shaping the future of our organization. Feel free to reply to this newsletter or drop an email to me directly at Dallas.swe@gmail.com

Once again, welcome to FY24! Let’s make this year an exceptional one together.
