FY17 Member Appreciation Event

Join Dallas SWE as we celebrate another great year at our 2017 Membership Appreciation event!

Please join us at WhirlyBall in Plano for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition! This event is for Dallas SWE to thank YOU, our loyal members, for your part in our accomplishments over the last fiscal year and to look ahead at what’s coming up in FY18. You are welcome to bring your family as well.  We hope you can join us!

What is WhirlyBall? It is a competitive mix of lacrosse and basketball played in bumpercars. You can find more information here: http://www.whirlyballplano.com/
Note: Whirlyball participants must be at least 9 years old and 4 feet tall.

WNBA Dallas Wings STEM Day – May 30

The WNBA Dallas Wings are hosting a STEM Day on May 30th, where they’ll showcase local school district STEM projects and have interactive stations hosted by STEM companies. Google Sandbox Dallas – June 7, 2017

We’ve been invited to participate in this special program hosted by Google in June. Check out the event details below and submit your application by Friday, May 19th!

Google’s software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how millions interact, making the world’s information accessible and useful. At Google, engineers not only revolutionize search, they routinely work on massive scalability and storage solutions, large-scale applications and entirely new platforms for developers around the world. From AdWords to Chrome, Android to YouTube, Social to Local, Google engineers are changing the world one technological achievement after another.

Ever wondered what being a Google engineer is really like? We hope that you will join us for Google Sandbox, an evening series of tech talks and intimate sessions with Google engineers as we bring the series to Dallas on the evening of Wednesday, June 7th. The Dallas event will deep dive into the tools and infrastructure side of Google, where engineers work to build software that empowers teams to develop and deliver high quality apps, products, and services.

A few of our members have been involved in Plaid for Women, the conference’s founders, for several years and are very excited about this opportunity. Event Recap: Graduating Senior Brunch

On Saturday, April 29th, Dallas SWE hosted FY17’s Senior Brunch in honor of our graduating SWE seniors from Collin College, Southern Methodist University, University of North Texas, and University of Texas – Dallas, in conjunction with our usual Social brunch. Peppersmash was a great location for the 12 attendees to gather for amazing food, drinks, and conversations. Dallas SWE partners with these local collegiate SWE sections in many events through the year, from Design Your World to other professional development events and STEM outreach activities. We appreciate everything our graduating seniors have done in their academic and SWE collegiate careers.
