Dallas SWE Inspires Future Space Explorers at Moon Day

Dallas SWE was excited to participate in this year’s Moon Day, joining hundreds of families, students, and space enthusiasts at the Frontiers of Flight Museum to celebrate the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the future of space exploration with a day of hands-on STEM activities. 

Throughout the day, visitors to the Dallas SWE booth took on our Magnetic Rover Navigation Challenge, guiding a magnetic rover through a lunar obstacle course featuring craters, rock fields, communication blackout zones, and other mission-inspired challenges. 


Participants explored engineering concepts such as magnetism, force, precision, and load distribution to successfully deliver their rover to the lunar base. The activity introduced participants to engineering concepts through play, while experiencing how engineers overcome challenges in real space missions.


Our volunteers enjoyed sharing insights into engineering careers and discussed how autonomous systems support NASA’s Artemis missions and future lunar exploration. Through these conversations and activities, students gained a deeper appreciation for the role engineers play in advancing space exploration.
